Forward Deployed Engineer - Robotics

Flexion is creating the intelligence layer that will enable the next wave of humanoid robots, moving from fragile prototypes toward real‑world use. As a Forward Deployed Engineer you will sit in the Engineering group, collaborating with R&D, Product and partner teams to expand Flexion’s software across fleets of customer robots. In this position you will act as the primary technical contact for major accounts, overseeing end‑to‑end integration of Flexion’s stack on client hardware. Your day will involve traveling to customer sites to perform deployments, writing code during bring‑up, and maintaining the software throughout daily operation. You will diagnose and fix full‑stack problems that span software, hardware interfaces and system integration, both remotely and on location, while gathering logs and field data to feed back into product improvements. You will also produce deployment guides, runbooks and manuals that help customers become self‑sufficient. The role requires a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or a comparable field, plus production‑level skill in C++ and Python. You must have hands‑on experience building software that talks directly to robotics hardware, deep familiarity with robotics hardware and software integration, networking fundamentals, Linux tools, perception sensors, embedded communication protocols, and strong competence with ROS 2 and DDS. Excellent communication and the willingness to travel about 20 % are essential. Familiarity with deep‑learning and reinforcement‑learning concepts is advantageous.
