The Lead Clinical Medical Physicist role at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) involves leading the Clinical Medical Physics Group and the Therapy Planning team. PSI is Switzerland's premier research institute for natural and engineering sciences, focusing on future technologies, energy, climate, health innovation, and fundamental research. The institute is dedicated to sustainable solutions for societal challenges and employs around 2300 people, including a significant number of post-docs, post-graduates, and apprentices. The main responsibilities include technical, organizational, and personnel leadership of the Clinical Medical Physics Group and the Therapy Planning team. This involves managing the group budget, clinical duty service, working time monitoring, and absence planning. The role also requires coordinating technical and administrative information exchange across all organizational units and leading the quality assurance program for all facilities. Additionally, the position involves clinical operational responsibility for medical physics activities at Gantry 2, Gantry 3, and Optis, as well as leading clinical medical physics and therapy planning support. To qualify for this role, candidates must have a university degree in physics, medical physics, or a related field, along with Swiss certification in medical physics or an equivalent qualification recognized in Switzerland. Substantial professional experience in radiotherapy is also required. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to set direction, think strategically, and delegate responsibilities. The role demands an inspiring and empowering leadership style, with a strong aptitude for working in interdisciplinary and multicultural teams. Nice-to-have skills include a willingness to work irregular hours in accordance with patient treatment schedules. The role is based at the Center for Proton Therapy (CPT) in Villigen, PSI, Switzerland, where the team focuses on advanced imaging, treatment planning, and proton therapy delivery.
