Harmattan AI develops next‑generation autonomous defence systems and has recently secured a $200 million Series B round that values the company at $1.4 billion. The firm is scaling its capabilities to deliver mission‑critical hardware to allied forces while adhering to values of real‑world impact, technical excellence and ambitious goal‑setting. As a Simulation / Mechanical Analysis Engineer on the Airframe team you will become the go‑to expert for structural, vibration and impact modelling. Your daily work will involve analysing and optimising carbon‑based chassis for quadcopter platforms, performing modal and harmonic vibration studies on composite, plastic and aluminium parts, and running explicit crash, shock and impact simulations to predict damage and define survivability improvements. You will also conduct static, stiffness, fatigue and failure finite‑element analyses, build accurate carbon‑laminate models, and correlate those results with validation tests such as modal hammer, shaker or drop‑test data. The insights you generate will be turned into concrete design changes, often implemented directly in CAD, and packaged into reusable tools, scripts and templates that enable other engineers to perform first‑order checks independently. The position requires a master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or a closely related engineering discipline. You must have a proven track record with finite‑element analysis focused on modal, vibration and dynamic studies, as well as hands‑on experience with explicit crash or shock simulations. Deep expertise in carbon‑fibre composites, including lay‑up, anisotropy and damage criteria, is essential, together with the ability to validate models against physical test data. Proficiency in SolidWorks for design adjustments, and scripting skills in Python, MATLAB or APDL for automation, are also required. The role demands rigorous documentation habits, a strong sense of ownership and the capacity to explain technical results clearly to non‑specialists, plus full commitment to Harmattan AI's mission and growth plans. Working in a high‑performance environment, you will collaborate closely with design, electronics and industrialisation groups, sharing simulation insights through Confluence and helping shape the next generation of autonomous defence platforms. The team values cross‑functional cooperation, continuous improvement of modelling fidelity and the development of shared methodologies that accelerate product development. What the role asks for: - Master's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering - Proven FEA experience (modal, vibration, dynamic) - Experience with explicit crash/shock/impact simulation - Strong knowledge of carbon‑fibre composite materials - Ability to correlate simulation with physical testing - Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD - Scripting/automation skills in Python, MATLAB or APDL - Demonstrated rigour, ownership and clear documentation
