The European Union’s Delegation in Bern offers two six‑month, fully funded traineeships for recent graduates, each placed in the Political, Press and Information Section and beginning on 1 October 2026. The posts give a close view of how the Delegation promotes EU values and interests in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. One placement concentrates on social‑media, press and analysis. The trainee will help run public‑diplomacy actions such as online campaigns and events, keep a regular annotated review of the media landscape, follow parliamentary sessions, referendums and elections, and study the two countries’ foreign‑policy positions. Participation in meetings and conferences is also expected. The second focus area deals with Switzerland’s and Liechtenstein’s EU policy and internal politics. Duties include researching and evaluating the EU‑related agenda of both states, drafting briefing notes and reports, monitoring social and economic developments, preparing and following up on meetings with member‑state representatives and stakeholders, and supporting related public‑diplomacy activities. Applicants must have graduated no more than a year before the contract, with at most a brief stint of student work that does not count as professional experience. A bachelor’s degree in political science, economics, law or a similar discipline is required, while a master’s degree is regarded as an asset. Candidates need strong German and English skills (C1 level) and a good command of French; the social‑media track also expects excellent German and English. Familiarity with EU‑Swiss relations and the workings of European institutions is essential. Trainees receive a monthly allowance to cover living costs, though they must arrange their own travel, visa, insurance and housing. Applications close on 17 June 2026, with online interviews scheduled for early July. The role provides a unique chance to work inside a diplomatic mission, engage with senior officials, and build a foundation for a future career in international affairs.
