NEURA is expanding its real‑time embedded Linux foundation for a range of robot platforms, including collaborative arms, mobile manipulators, humanoids, quadrupeds and a shared compute unit. As the RT & Kernel Engineer you will be responsible for the operating system, kernel and board‑support layer that underpins every control and communication stack on these machines. Your daily work will involve configuring and tuning real‑time Linux kernels—both co‑kernel and pre‑emptive variants—to satisfy kHz‑class control loops and high‑rate state estimation. You will bring up system‑on‑module boards, craft Yocto BSPs for each hardware revision, manage boot sequences, device‑tree definitions and driver integration, and perform hands‑on debugging on actual hardware. The role also includes creating and maintaining Yocto layers, recipes and images, conducting WCET analyses, reviewing timing budgets with the RT Communication Bus engineer, and embedding safety features such as emergency‑stop wiring and ISO 10218 PLC integration. Automation of build, flash and test processes, together with up‑to‑date technical documentation, rounds out the responsibilities. The position requires a solid background in embedded Linux BSP development with practical Yocto/OpenEmbedded experience on production devices, as well as hands‑on real‑time kernel patching and scheduling expertise (SCHED_FIFO/RR, priority handling, CPU affinity). You must be comfortable with WCET analysis tools, proficient in C/C++ at the kernel‑driver interface, capable of authoring device trees and scripting engineering workflows, and have worked on ARM SoCs featuring multi‑cluster architectures. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
