Android Software Engineer

Swissquote, Switzerland's leading digital bank with more than 1,500 employees across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, is looking for an Android Software Engineer. The company delivers a full suite of financial services, from trading and investing to everyday banking, to over a million clients worldwide. The role sits inside the Banking Services team and focuses on modern Android apps that support Payments, Cards, Cryptocurrencies and related features. The engineer will design, code, test and maintain Android applications using Kotlin, Coroutines, Flows and Jetpack Compose while adhering to Clean Architecture principles. Responsibilities include taking full ownership of features from requirement clarification through design, implementation and production monitoring. The candidate will also evolve existing mobile systems, improve scalability and reliability, build UI components with Jetpack Compose, write automated unit and end‑to‑end tests, review peers' code, and support release activities. Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to documentation and process improvements are also part of the daily work. Swissquote expects solid professional experience in Android development, preferably in Kotlin‑centric projects. Candidates must be highly proficient in Kotlin, including its coroutine and flow constructs, and comfortable with Jetpack Compose for UI work. A deep grasp of Clean Architecture, separation of concerns and common Android design patterns is required, as is experience with dependency‑injection tools such as Koin and a modular project layout. The role demands strong Gradle expertise, extensive automated testing know‑how, and the ability to safely modify complex or legacy codebases. A focus on code quality, maintainability and long‑term evolvability is essential, together with enthusiasm for incorporating AI into the development workflow. Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory. Nice‑to‑have experience includes building consumer‑facing, high‑traffic or mission‑critical mobile products, and familiarity with MVVM or MVI architectures and unidirectional data flow. Knowledge of Jetpack libraries such as Room and Retrofit, as well as the Firebase ecosystem, is valued. Understanding of analytics, crash‑reporting tools like Crashlytics, and production diagnostics adds further advantage. Experience working in cross‑functional agile squads and collaborating closely with product owners and designers is appreciated, as is hands‑on use of agentic models or AI‑assisted development tools.
