Join Lonza's Engineering division in Visp as an EI&C MES Application Manager, where you will steer the transformation of the manufacturing execution system (MES) throughout its entire lifespan. The role sits at a site‑focused location, enabling hands‑on collaboration with colleagues who produce pharmaceutical products under the strictest quality and safety regulations. Your daily agenda will involve planning and directing MES initiatives from initial analysis through design, rollout, testing and final hand‑over. You will keep the MES framework up‑to‑date, fine‑tune standards, and guarantee that the system aligns with both local and global directives. Keeping the production line running smoothly, you will monitor system health, apply enhancements, and manage updates while ensuring all activities meet GMP documentation requirements. Close cooperation with Operations, Quality Assurance, Automation, and IT/OT groups will be essential to achieve seamless integration and high availability. You will also review MES‑related processes, spot chances for digital improvement, and work with external suppliers and service partners on project and support tasks. The position calls for a university degree, at least a bachelor's, in Computer Science, Industrial IT/OT, Automation Engineering or a comparable discipline. You must bring solid professional background in IT/OT, MES, or automation engineering within a regulated setting, together with a clear grasp of GMP rules and hands‑on experience with validated production or automation environments. Ownership of the MES lifecycle, covering operation, upgrades, release handling and interface coordination, is required. A thorough understanding of OT networking, virtualization platforms such as VMware, system architecture concepts and basic cybersecurity principles is also expected. Effective communication in German or English at a minimum B2 level is mandatory, as is a methodical, autonomous work approach paired with strong problem‑solving abilities. Participation in on‑call duty a few times each year is part of the contract. Lonza offers a vibrant, inclusive culture that prizes collaboration, accountability and excellence. The role is fully on‑site, fostering real‑time teamwork essential for high‑precision drug manufacturing. Relocation support is available for qualified candidates and their families, and a comprehensive benefits package tailored to the Visp region complements a competitive salary. What the role asks for: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Industrial IT/OT, Automation Engineering or related field - Significant experience in IT/OT, MES or automation engineering in a regulated environment - Strong knowledge of GMP requirements and validated production systems - Responsibility for the full MES lifecycle, including operation and enhancements - Knowledge of OT networks, virtualization (VMware), system architectures and basic cybersecurity - Fluent German or English (minimum B2) for collaboration - Willingness to perform on‑call duty 2‑3 times per year
