Kubernetes/Container Architect (m/w/d) – Winterthur Area

The position will be based in the Winterthur area of Switzerland and will serve as the senior technical authority for the design, governance and evolution of enterprise‑wide container platforms, ensuring they meet the company's security, scalability and resilience standards. In this role you will shape the architecture of Kubernetes clusters and the surrounding container ecosystem. Core duties include creating and maintaining highly available control‑plane designs, defining integration patterns for service meshes, storage and networking, and establishing governance frameworks and operational best practices. You will also lead the response to complex incidents, support escalations, and work closely with infrastructure, cloud, networking, storage and security teams to keep the platform aligned with broader enterprise architecture goals. Documentation of standards and continuous improvement initiatives are also part of the daily agenda. The ideal candidate must bring extensive hands‑on experience designing and operating enterprise Kubernetes and container platforms, coupled with deep expertise in Kubernetes architecture, orchestration, platform security, networking and storage integration. Proven experience with high‑availability, disaster‑recovery, scalability and resilience design principles is required, as is a solid grasp of cloud‑native technologies, service meshes, observability and governance. The role demands a track record of handling complex technical escalations and providing architectural leadership, together with strong analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management abilities. Fluency in German at a minimum B2 level and Swiss citizenship are mandatory. Additional assets include relevant certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) and Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS), as well as other cloud‑native architecture, security, network, storage or compute credentials.
