The position of Plasma Research Engineer – Space Research Technology supports the International Space Federation (ISF), a research organization based in the French Alps that is backed by INAUTALENT in Switzerland. ISF focuses on gravity‑control propulsion and quantum‑vacuum energy, seeking clean, sustainable energy by merging relativity with quantum mechanics and turning bold scientific ideas into practical technologies. In this role you will be responsible for creating and running a dedicated cold‑plasma laboratory. Tasks include specifying, installing and commissioning high‑voltage power supplies, laser equipment, gas‑handling and vacuum/glass containment systems, as well as diagnostic and safety devices. You will develop repeatable methods for producing stable non‑thermal plasma using pulsating high‑voltage signals, laser‑triggered schemes and custom gas blends, and you will conduct experiments that manipulate plasma with rotating electromagnetic fields while measuring temperature, density, electrical and optical properties. Designing resonant circuits and analog drivers, analysing data, iterating setups, and documenting procedures are also central duties, all performed under strict safety and regulatory guidelines. Candidates must hold a master’s degree or Ph.D. in plasma physics, physics, electrical engineering or a closely related discipline, and possess at least seven years of hands‑on experience with cold or non‑thermal plasma generation and characterization (such as DBD, RF, microwave or pulsed discharge). A solid background in high‑voltage pulsating power systems, analog electronics, resonant circuit design and impedance matching is required, together with a proven ability to independently design, build, troubleshoot and operate complex experimental rigs while maintaining high safety standards. Additional assets include practical work with laser‑driven cold plasma, preparation of custom gas mixtures, use of glass or quartz discharge vessels, and experience generating rotating magnetic or electromagnetic fields for plasma control. Familiarity with plasma diagnostics like Langmuir probes, optical emission spectroscopy or high‑speed imaging, and data‑analysis skills in Python or MATLAB, are also valued. The laboratory will be located in Martigny, Switzerland, offering a highly autonomous research environment, close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and clear opportunities for professional advancement within a cutting‑edge R&D setting.
