Senior Underwriter / Underwriter Energy (all gender), Full-Time or Part-Time

Helvetia Specialty Lines, a Swiss‑based insurer with a global reach, designs bespoke coverage for sectors ranging from engineering and marine to art, aviation and even space. As a Senior Underwriter – Energy you will join a team that values collaboration, expertise and an entrepreneurial spirit, operating from Switzerland while serving an international market. In this role you will lead comprehensive underwriting reviews for Energy clients, examining engineering risks, policy terms, pricing structures and capacity allocation. You will evaluate key exposures, normal loss expectations and worst‑case loss scenarios to underpin sound underwriting choices, and you will monitor accumulations, including natural catastrophe risks, to preserve portfolio quality. Negotiating conditions with brokers and clients, you will craft solutions that meet client needs while safeguarding long‑term profitability, and you will ensure all decisions comply with Helvetia Group governance. Representing the company at client and broker meetings, site visits and industry events, you will also cooperate closely with claims specialists on large, complex claims to maintain a holistic risk perspective. The position requires a university degree—preferably in engineering, natural sciences, business or a related discipline—and values an additional commercial qualification such as an MBA. Proven experience in Energy underwriting or direct work in the Energy sector is essential, together with strong analytical abilities, confident negotiation skills and a solid grasp of Energy insurance markets and trends. Candidates must demonstrate a proactive attitude, a passion for tackling intricate challenges, and the capacity to build trusted partnerships across departments. Fluency in English is mandatory, while German language skills are highly preferred. German proficiency is a distinct advantage, and the role offers flexibility to work full‑time or part‑time. You
