Syngenta Crop Protection, a Swiss‑based leader in sustainable agriculture, develops innovative crop‑protection technologies that combine advanced science with digital tools to boost yields while reducing environmental impact. The company’s Digital & Data Science Group within Biologicals Research is looking for a Data Scientist (m/f/d) to turn multi‑omics data into actionable insights that guide the creation of new biological solutions derived from microbes, extracts or natural molecules. In this position you will design and apply integration pipelines for multi‑omics datasets, handling tasks such as data harmonisation, feature engineering and network‑based analysis to support hypothesis generation. Daily work includes applying machine‑learning, statistical and AI techniques to high‑dimensional data, curating and quality‑controlling large‑scale omics collections, and building predictive models that can be deployed with R&D IT and software teams. You will also validate results through iterative testing, present findings to both technical and lay audiences, and advise scientists on data requirements and integrity. The role requires an MSc or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or a related discipline, together with at least three years of experience creating multi‑omics integration methods for complex biological or agricultural data. Proficiency in Python or R, UNIX/Linux environments, machine‑learning frameworks and SQL is essential, and familiarity with proteomics or metabolomics analysis is considered a plus. A dynamic, innovative mindset and strong problem‑solving drive are also required. Syngenta’s Swiss sites have earned a “Friendly Work Space” label and are recognised as top employers. Employees benefit from a competitive pension plan, flexible work arrangements, performance bonuses, on‑site medical services, fitness facilities, a canteen, and family‑friendly programmes. The environment encourages open collaboration, continuous learning and the chance to contribute to impactful, globally relevant research.
