The School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications at UNSW is looking for a Lecturer in Energy Systems. The position combines teaching and research within Electrical Energy Systems and Power Engineering, strengthening the school's expertise in power and high‑voltage systems, modelling, simulation and control while supporting interdisciplinary work across telecommunications, control, signal processing and microelectronics. Day‑to‑day duties involve delivering high‑quality undergraduate and postgraduate courses, designing and implementing learning experiences, supervising Honours and research projects, and contributing to course administration and academic quality assurance. The role also requires active engagement with students from diverse backgrounds, participation in equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and building connections with industry and professional networks. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline and have relevant professional experience. A proven commitment to staying current with developments in the field, demonstrable experience in teaching design and delivery at UG/PG level, and a strong record of high‑impact power‑systems research are essential. Evidence of research excellence, leadership potential, and competence with educational technologies and online delivery methods are also required. The applicant should show teaching effectiveness, curriculum development skills, and the ability to inspire and support diverse students. Significant involvement with professional bodies or industry, high‑level communication, teamwork across disciplines, and strong interpersonal and organisational abilities are expected, together with an understanding of UNSW's values, policies and health‑and‑safety responsibilities. Desirable attributes include knowledge of industry practices or experience with work‑integrated learning, which will be viewed favorably. The role is based in Kensington, Sydney, on a full‑time, fixed‑term two‑year contract that can convert to a continuing position after a successful review. The salary range is AUD $133,065, $156,864 plus 17 % superannuation, and UNSW offers flexible work options, extensive parental leave and workplace adjustments for disability.
