Reinforcement Learning Expert - Humanoid (human)

NEURA Robotics is pioneering a new era of cognitive robots, and it is looking for a Reinforcement Learning Expert for Humanoid robots. In this role you will lead the creation and deployment of advanced learning algorithms that give the company's 4NE1 humanoid greater autonomy, adaptability and interactive abilities. Your daily work will involve refining the learning pipeline for robust locomotion and loco‑manipulation, from policy training through validated on‑robot deployment. You will explore and adapt state‑of‑the‑art methods such as behavior foundation models, motion tracking and teleoperation, and ship them to customers or internal teams. Driving sim‑to‑real transfer via domain randomisation, actuator modelling and physics alignment will be essential to minimise performance gaps. You will also integrate reinforcement learning with behavior cloning, collaborate with controls, hardware and perception groups, and run experiments and simulations to assess algorithmic performance. The position requires a Master's or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science or a related discipline, and strong programming skills in Python and C++. You must have hands‑on experience developing and deploying reinforcement‑learning and behavior‑cloning solutions for robotic systems, including familiarity with Isaac Lab, Isaac Sim or MuJoCo and PyTorch. Familiarity with ROS2 and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly are also required. A solid understanding of humanoid dynamics, control theory and sensor integration is essential, as are strong analytical abilities and flawless English communication together with good German proficiency. The role offers the chance to work closely with controls, hardware and perception teams in a fast‑moving research environment. The position is based at NEURA's headquarters, offering a collaborative environment. A record of publications or conference contributions is considered a plus.
