Sorbent Module Product Owner (80-100%)

Climeworks is seeking a Sorbent Module Product Owner to steer the creation of next‑generation sorbent modules that support the company’s mission of advancing sustainable technologies. The role sits at the heart of product development, guiding concepts from early technology readiness (around TRL 3) through to market‑ready solutions (around TRL 6) and beyond. Day‑to‑day you will own the development pathway, balancing product specifications, performance, manufacturability and scalability. You will manage the full lifecycle of new modules, overseeing validation, serial production, and eventual end‑of‑life. Coordination of engineering, manufacturing, testing and validation activities will be essential, as will close collaboration with internal technology, development and operations teams as well as external suppliers and partners. Supporting prototype build‑outs, running experiments, troubleshooting designs and driving continuous improvements in reliability, cost and environmental impact are also core tasks. The position requires an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and a minimum of five years of industrial experience in product development, mechanical design or design engineering. Candidates must have practical expertise in material selection, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, Design for Maintainability and Design for the Environment, plus a basic grasp of chemical processes and related trade‑offs. A proven record of leading projects from concept to implementation, strong creative problem‑solving, effective communication across multidisciplinary groups, fluency in English and willingness to travel up to ten percent are mandatory. Based in Opfikon near Zurich, the role demands at least three on‑site days per week while offering a hybrid model with up to four weeks of remote work anywhere in the EU.
