Mechanical Design Engineer (gn)

Metso, a global leader in turning rocks, minerals, metals and other raw materials into the building blocks of modern life, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (gn) for its Baden, Switzerland site. The company’s solutions support renewable energy, electrification, infrastructure and the digital economy, helping customers meet rising demand while promoting sustainable resource use. In this role you will translate customer‑specific requirements into detailed 3‑D models, part lists, drawings and specifications, and incorporate product‑specific improvements aimed at maintenance. You will also handle the integration and documentation of auxiliary equipment such as gearboxes, lubrication units, valves and tools supplied by external vendors. Projects are planned and executed independently, with an emphasis on high‑quality outcomes, on‑time delivery, customer satisfaction and adherence to budget, while working closely with project management, service teams and R&D initiatives. All work must comply with relevant standards and norms. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable field, several years of hands‑on experience with 3‑D CAD/PDM tools (Inventor/Vault), and a background in manufacturing and assembling mechanical components. Candidates should demonstrate a structured, independent and goal‑driven approach, coupled with an enthusiastic, communicative and proactive mindset. Strong teamwork, excellent interpersonal abilities, responsibility and conscientiousness are essential, as are very good written and spoken German and English; additional language skills are a plus.
