The Nestlé Product Technology Center for Coffee, a worldwide hub for coffee and beverage innovation, is looking for an R&D Intern focused on soft‑matter science to help shape the next generation of coffee creamer. Based in Orbe, Switzerland, the six‑month hybrid internship offers a full‑time experience starting around February 2027. In this role you will support a research project aimed at enhancing mouthfeel in coffee‑based drinks. Your daily tasks include reviewing scientific literature and internal data to understand beverage structure, selecting and trialling analytical techniques that capture texture and creaminess, and refining methods that link lab measurements with sensory perception. You will work closely with sensory specialists, product developers and laboratory teams, turning experimental results into clear reports, study summaries and practical guidance that inform recipe optimisation across the global network. The position requires you to be a student or recent graduate in Physics, Physical Chemistry, Food Science or a closely related discipline. You must be fluent in English and able to translate scientific concepts into tangible product solutions. A proactive, hands‑on attitude in the lab, combined with an analytical mindset for data interpretation and clear communication across multidisciplinary groups, is essential. The internship is based in Orbe with flexible hybrid working options and provides access to Nestlé's learning and development programmes, healthcare contributions, employee assistance, and product discounts. You will join a collaborative, internationally‑connected team that values courage, speed, continuous learning and shared value creation. French language skills are considered an asset, and the role offers a fully accessible workplace with a strong safety culture. What the role asks for: - Student or recent graduate in Physics, Physical Chemistry, Food Science or related field - Fluent English proficiency - Ability to link scientific concepts to product challenges - Hands‑on laboratory experimentation skills - Strong analytical mindset for data interpretation - Nice-to-have: French language proficiency
