Global Head of MES & Automation

Lonza, a global leader in life sciences, is seeking a Global Head of MES & Automation to join their team in Basel, Switzerland. The Global Head of MES & Automation will oversee customer demand management, project management, and solution development for the ADS, SPM, and INB operations networks. This role involves collaborating with various teams, including Platform Operations, IT, local automation teams, and GE Delivery leads, to maximize the value of the ITOT architecture and adopt electronic batch records across sites. The position also includes developing and implementing global MES strategies, ensuring operational functionality, and maintaining compliance with cGMP standards. To excel in this role, candidates must have a Master's degree in Engineering/Automation, Computer Science, or a related field. They should also have extensive experience in pharmaceutical operations, development, or manufacturing, with a strong background in GxP systems and regulations like 21 CFR Part 11. Proficiency in both English and German is required, along with experience in leading successful IT or OT deployments. Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Nice-to-have skills include experience in managing change initiatives and a deep understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations and technologies. The role may require up to 20% travel, both domestically and internationally. What the role asks for: - A Master's degree in Engineering/Automation, Computer Science or equivalent. - Business fluent English & German language. - Many years of experience within Pharmaceutical Operations, Development or Manufacturing (GMP). - Highly experienced in leading / managing successful deployment of IT or OT. - Experience in GxP systems implementation or software development life cycle as well as supporting project and validation methodologies (CSV). - Strong coaching, mentoring, and influencing skills. - Strong leadership and people management skills, inspiring and empowering leadership style. - Flexibility to travel for up to 20% (both domestic & internationally).
