Staff/Senior Software Engineer - Desktop Application

The opening is for a Staff or Senior Desktop Application Engineer who will shape the AI‑powered self‑service chat agent that runs on Windows and macOS machines for tens of millions of endpoints. In this role you will define the technical vision and architecture of the native desktop client, steering its design to meet high‑performance, reliability and security goals. You will collaborate closely with product, backend, AI/ML and infrastructure groups to ensure the client aligns with the broader AI platform, while overseeing the full distribution pipeline—from code signing and packaging to automated updates and uninstall procedures. Daily activities include championing observability, crash reporting and performance monitoring, leading design reviews, mentoring teammates and influencing cross‑team decisions. The position requires at least seven years of experience building native desktop applications for both Windows and macOS, with a proven record of delivering software to large user bases. Candidates must be proficient in Rust or C++ and possess deep knowledge of the respective operating‑system APIs, as well as hands‑on expertise in the complete lifecycle of application distribution, performance profiling and crash diagnostics. Strong communication abilities and a history of mentoring engineering teams are also essential. Additional assets include familiarity with the Tauri framework, React and TypeScript for UI work, and experience integrating desktop clients with cloud services via REST, WebSockets or gRPC.
