Head of Site Logistics

CSL is a worldwide biotechnology company that creates and produces therapies for serious and rare illnesses. At its St. Gallen site, the firm manufactures life‑saving products and needs a senior leader to steer the logistics function that supplies the plant. The Head of Site Logistics will direct all material handling activities, guaranteeing that warehousing, order picking and internal transport meet production schedules while staying within GxP rules. Daily duties involve supervising a six‑person team, maintaining accurate stock records through cycle counts, monitoring key performance indicators, and launching corrective actions when gaps appear. The role also requires leading cross‑functional improvement projects, handling audit and health‑authority inspections, and acting as the point of contact for manufacturing, quality, planning, procurement and international logistics. Candidates must hold a vocational logistics qualification together with a higher‑level diploma in logistics, supply‑chain management or a comparable field, or possess an equivalent mix of study and work. They need several years of experience in supply‑chain or warehouse operations, including at least five years of hands‑on work under cGMP and GDP standards in a regulated industry, and a proven record of people management in such an environment. A solid grasp of warehouse flow, inventory control and SAP‑based material‑management tools is essential, as are strong communication abilities, stakeholder handling skills and fluency in both German and English. The position also demands a recognized air‑freight security credential. The job is based in St. Gallen, offering a collaborative setting where logistics interacts closely with manufacturing, quality assurance and global supply‑chain teams. While the focus is on leadership and process oversight, the incumbent should feel comfortable stepping into the warehouse when needed. An appetite for continuous improvement, familiarity with Lean manufacturing concepts and a forklift‑operator or trainer licence are considered valuable extras.
