PhD PHD Student in Quantum technologies (F/M/D)

CSEM's Instrumentation Business Unit in Neuchâtel seeks a PhD student in Quantum technologies to develop high‑vacuum MEMS atomic vapor cells for next‑generation quantum sensors and precision‑measurement systems. The work involves designing, fabricating and characterising miniaturised vapor cells, testing vacuum lifetime, thermal behaviour and optical properties as part of the Quantum technologies group. What the role asks for: - Master's degree in physics or related field - Strong motivation to pursue a PhD in experimental quantum technologies - Good understanding of experimental physics or engineering principles - Nice-to-have: MEMS design or microfabrication experience - Nice-to-have: Knowledge of vacuum technology and hermetic sealing - Nice-to-have: Familiarity with atomic vapor cells and alkali‑metal handling - Nice-to-have: Data analysis using Python or similar tools - Nice-to-have: Cleanroom or research lab experience
