Lead Forward Deployed Software Engineer

Flink Robotics, a fast‑moving startup spun out of ETH Zürich’s Computational Robotics Lab, creates autonomous robots that can manipulate any item, even those they have never encountered, transforming material‑handling tasks such as stacking, sorting and unloading. The Lead Forward Deployed Software Engineer will join this VC‑backed venture, taking charge of adapting and troubleshooting the autonomy stack directly at customer sites. In this role you will fine‑tune robot performance after each installation, oversee smooth handovers to clients, and manage both incremental and major software upgrades across the fleet. You will design and run the remote‑supervision workflow, channel customer feedback to product teams, and build and lead the forward‑deployed engineering group. Frequent travel—about half of the time—is required to ensure optimal robot operation in diverse environments. The position demands at least five years of professional experience, a degree in mathematics, computer science or a related discipline, and a proven track record of deploying C++ code in production. You must be adept at diagnosing complex system problems quickly, thrive in entrepreneurial settings, and communicate clearly in English, with additional languages considered a plus. Candidates should be Swiss/EU citizens, hold a Swiss work permit, or possess a Swiss university degree that allows work without visa sponsorship.
