The role of Abteilungsleiter Instandhaltung - Austria (m/w/d) is a Reliability Maintenance Engineering Area Manager position within Amazon Operations. Amazon Operations is responsible for the entire customer experience, from the moment an item is purchased to its delivery. The company operates numerous Fulfillment Centers, Delivery Stations, and employs thousands of people across Europe to ensure timely and accurate delivery of items. The main day-to-day responsibilities of the Reliability Maintenance Engineering Area Manager include leading, supporting, and mentoring a team of engineering technicians. This involves ensuring the team works safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards. The role also requires collaborating with the team and the wider network to develop technical solutions, supporting the implementation of safety and compliance programs, and organizing training programs to ensure sufficient technical coverage during shifts. Additionally, the manager may be involved in local or EU-level projects and must be prepared to work on shifts to maintain a strong connection with the team and daily operations. To qualify for this role, candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, such as Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, from an accredited university or equivalent experience. Significant practical engineering experience, including a supervisory role, is essential. Candidates must be multi-skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines and have experience with automated equipment, including packaging machinery, sortation, and conveyor systems. Proficiency in English and the local language at CEFR Level B2 or higher is required, along with experience working to appropriate health and safety standards and regulations. Solid computer skills, including MS Office and CAD, are also necessary. Nice-to-have skills include experience with preventive maintenance procedures, industrial electrical, industrial controls, and industrial electronics & robotics. Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System programs, full working knowledge of specialized engineering and facilities equipment, and experience with PLC-based control systems are also beneficial. Project Management experience and familiarity with Kaizen and Continuous Improvement Process are additional assets. The role is based in Germany but requires frequent travel to Austria, and the team values diversity, inclusivity, and a strong work ethic.
