Subject Matter (STEM) Expert - Remote

A contractor role is open for a seasoned STEM specialist to work with a client’s remote team, applying deep knowledge of science, technology, engineering or mathematics to shape cutting‑edge learning material. The position is fully virtual, allowing the expert to contribute from any location while supporting the creation of high‑level educational resources. Each day involves examining visual media such as pictures and videos that fall within the specialist’s field, extracting core ideas and subtle details. The expert then crafts the most demanding and insightful questions that truly test subject mastery, assigning each item to the correct category and sub‑category to guide further review. Collaboration with other domain professionals ensures that standards for accuracy and quality are consistently met, while data insights and current literature inform the relevance of each query. Innovative teaching approaches and digital learning tools are employed to enhance the impact of the content, and the senior contributor also guides less‑experienced team members, sharing best practices and helping raise overall quality. Applicants must possess extensive expertise in one or more STEM areas, a proven record of designing curricula or instructional material, and strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills for developing complex questions. Excellent written and spoken communication, the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting, and experience with digital annotation platforms are essential. A history of teamwork across functional groups and leading projects is also required. Desirable experience includes prior work tagging images or videos, familiarity with modern pedagogical methods and assessment techniques, and a background in mentoring or training within academic or professional STEM contexts.
