Senior Mechanical Engineer

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be part of the Equipment & Packages Engineering team, ensuring that waste‑handling projects meet cost, quality and schedule targets while coordinating closely with the manager of that function. Your daily work will involve steering concept and basic engineering phases, handling internal and external interfaces, and drafting technical specifications for procurement packages that include waste reception, storage, feeding systems and various crane solutions. You will lead supplier selection, evaluate offers, issue purchase orders and manage supplier progress during detailed engineering, overseeing documentation, inspections and factory‑acceptance tests. Collaboration with procurement, arrangement planning, civil, electrical and process groups will be essential, as will clarifying cross‑disciplinary interfaces, supporting installation and commissioning, troubleshooting technical issues on site and transferring knowledge through standardisation and lessons learned. The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent from FH/ETH or a technical university) and at least seven years of experience in industrial plant engineering. Proven work with crane systems—particularly waste, bottom‑ash or bulk‑material handling equipment—is expected, while a background in energy‑from‑waste, power generation or heavy industry is considered advantageous. You must have solid experience in supplier management, complex‑system procurement and multidisciplinary project delivery, be fluent in English, and be prepared to travel internationally for supplier visits, FATs and site support; German language skills are a plus.
