Doctoral Position in Generative AI-Based, Computational Design Methods for Engineering Design

The doctoral position at the Engineering Design and Computing Laboratory at ETH Zurich focuses on advancing generative AI-based, computational design methods for engineering design. The main day-to-day responsibilities involve investigating new approaches in generative AI for engineering design, exploring how LLMs can collaborate with human designers, and using LLMs to represent, reason about, and generate design solutions. The role also includes exploring different solution spaces and investigating applications in consumer products, manufacturing, and structures. Additionally, the position requires providing teaching assistance in engineering design, product development, and CAD. To qualify for this role, candidates must have a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Strong programming skills in Python are essential, as is proficiency in English, the main working language. Experience with computational design methods, machine learning, and Large Language Models (LLMs) is advantageous but not required.
