Lecturer - Pure Mathematics

UNSW's School of Mathematics and Statistics is hiring a Lecturer in Pure Mathematics. The position is full‑time (35 hours) in Sydney and combines independent research with teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The day‑to‑day work includes producing high‑impact pure‑mathematics research, publishing in leading journals, and writing competitive grant proposals. The lecturer will build collaborations inside the school, across the university, with industry and internationally, present findings at seminars and conferences, and supervise Honours, Masters coursework and research projects. Teaching duties cover course design and delivery using modern pedagogies and technology for both mathematics and non‑mathematics students, while also contributing to school committees and leadership activities. Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant mathematical science and show a strong record of pure‑mathematics research aligned with the school's focus. Evidence of effective teaching, a solid publication history in top‑tier journals, and success in securing external research funding are required. Supervision experience for Honours, Masters and vacation‑scholar projects, high‑level oral and written communication, and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines are also essential.
