The ICRC collaborates with Red Cross and Red Crescent partners globally to deliver life-saving aid, reconnect families, and locate missing people. The Data Protection Legal Adviser role within the Data Protection Office (DPO) is crucial for ensuring the ICRC processes personal data responsibly and in line with its mandate, especially in sensitive humanitarian contexts. To qualify for this role, candidates must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, International Law, or Human Rights. A strong knowledge of data protection law, supported by a Data Protection Officer certification, is essential. Excellent written and spoken English skills are required, with proficiency in French or Spanish being a valuable asset. Candidates should also be skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and have approximately 10–12 years of overall professional experience, with around 5 years as a legal adviser or attorney and approximately 2 years of experience in data protection or privacy. Nice-to-have skills include operational experience in the humanitarian sector, ideally as a program coordinator, manager, or similar role.
