Global Category Lead (Contract Manufacturing)

Fresenius Medical Care, the worldwide leader in kidney care, is looking for a Global Category Lead (Contract Manufacturing). The role sits within the Procurement Department of the Global Functions unit and is tasked with shaping and executing the global sourcing strategy for contract‑manufacturing activities that support the company's mission of delivering high‑quality, innovative kidney‑care solutions. On a daily basis the leader will define the category roadmap, create multi‑year plans and align supplier portfolios with business goals. They will steer executive‑level negotiations, approve sourcing recommendations and monitor savings, productivity and working‑capital targets. The position also oversees supplier governance, drives innovation, quality and sustainability initiatives, and ensures compliance with regulatory, ESG and corporate‑governance standards while managing risk and business‑continuity plans. The ideal candidate brings at least twelve years of progressive procurement and strategic‑sourcing experience, seven years of leading contract‑manufacturing categories on a global scale, and five years of people‑management experience. Proven success in handling international supplier networks, complex cross‑border negotiations and sourcing programmes is essential, as is a background in regulated sectors such as medical devices, healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceuticals or advanced manufacturing. Strong collaboration with senior executives, critical‑thinking, decisive problem‑solving, deep knowledge of contract terms and robust negotiation and relationship‑management skills are required, together with fluency in English.
