Monitoring / Observability Engineer

We are seeking a Monitoring / Observability Engineer to join a team that builds and operates complex, distributed application environments. The company focuses on delivering reliable services by making systems observable, ensuring quick diagnosis and remediation of issues across development, infrastructure and operations. The role involves designing, implementing and maintaining monitoring and alerting solutions. You will create Grafana dashboards, configure Prometheus, define metrics, alerts and thresholds, and monitor Java‑based back‑ends, APIs, micro‑services and supporting infrastructure. Daily tasks include analysing monitoring data to spot performance problems, supporting root‑cause investigations, continuously improving coverage and alert quality, and collaborating with developers, DevOps and operations to standardise and automate observability processes. The position requires strong hands‑on experience with Grafana and Prometheus, proven ability to build monitoring and alerting systems, and a background in monitoring Java backend applications. You must have worked with complex distributed or micro‑service architectures, possess a solid grasp of performance metrics and troubleshooting, be comfortable in Linux environments, and communicate fluently in English and German. Familiarity with cloud platforms, containers and Kubernetes is a valuable plus.
