Destinus’s engineering group is looking for a Propulsion Test Trainee or Intern to help keep solid‑rocket‑motor and igniter testing safe, repeatable and compliant. The position sits within a hands‑on environment where the focus is on preparing, running and continuously improving energetic propulsion tests. Each day you will assist in planning, coordinating and carrying out test campaigns, work alongside the test conductor during live firings, manage personnel, enforce safety zones and make quick technical calls when conditions deviate from the plan. You will help define and verify instrumentation and data‑acquisition needs, oversee integration, inspection, dry runs and functional checks of motors, igniters, firing circuits and safety interlocks. When anomalies, misfires or incidents occur you will join investigations, perform root‑cause analysis and support corrective actions, while also drafting test plans, risk assessments, reports and lessons‑learned documents. Close collaboration with propulsion, mechanical, electrical, software and systems engineers ensures test goals match design maturity and operational limits, and you will contribute to upgrades of firing stands, remote‑operation tools and safety systems. The role requires a BSc or MSc in aerospace, mechanical or a related field, plus roughly one to two years of experience on a student rocket‑propulsion team. A solid grasp of rocket propulsion, especially solid motors, and prior exposure to static firing or ignition‑system validation are essential. You should have taken part in test planning, procedural writing and hands‑on execution, be comfortable with instrumentation basics, and stay calm under time‑critical ignition events. Strong communication, the ability to lead test activities, a proactive problem‑solving attitude and fluency in English are mandatory; German is a plus. Additional advantages include deeper familiarity with test instrumentation and data‑acquisition platforms, as well as the chance to work in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary team that values ownership and offers exposure to the development of cutting‑edge test infrastructure and safety solutions.
