Mission Engineer - IBEX

PAVE Space is developing LYOBA, a heavy‑kick stage capable of lifting payloads as large as four tonnes from low‑Earth orbit to high‑energy trajectories in under a day. The Mission Engineer – IBEX will act as the technical liaison for institutional and governmental customers, turning their needs into concrete mission proposals for the company’s adapted vehicle. Each day will involve creating and running orbital simulations that match client requirements, performing sizing calculations and trade‑off analyses to gauge feasibility, and converting customer concepts into clear mission architectures with defined performance metrics. The role also includes drafting the technical portions of bids and request‑for‑proposal responses, maintaining a library of reference scenarios and assumptions to accelerate future offers, and partnering with the commercial lead to qualify opportunities and reinforce the technical narrative during client discussions. Candidates must bring more than five years of experience in the space sector, a solid understanding of spacecraft systems and mission planning, and strong fundamentals in orbital mechanics that allow rapid mission sizing and the ability to spot unrealistic requests. Familiarity with space‑situational‑awareness terminology, a track record of interacting directly with customers, and the skill to explain technical trade‑offs to non‑technical listeners are required, as is the ability to deliver credible technical feedback within days. Fluency in English is essential. Desirable experience includes participation in proposal or pre‑sales activities, exposure to governmental or institutional space programs, knowledge of operational concepts and mission planning, and the ability to develop simulation tools or internal models. The position is fully on‑site in Villeneuve (VD) and represents the inaugural hire for this function, offering the chance to shape the bridge between engineering and sales while directly influencing the missions PAVE Space will fly.
