Senior Mechanical Engineer- Quadcopter Systems

The senior mechanical engineer will join the Quadcopter Airframe team in Lausanne, taking responsibility for the complete mechanical architecture of the firm’s flagship multirotor platforms. In day‑to‑day work the engineer will lead the design of lightweight quadcopter structures, fuselages, chassis, motor mounts and quick‑release mechanisms using SolidWorks, progressing from concept sketches to production‑ready models. The role also covers the spatial planning of electronic components—PCBs, harnesses, power distribution, motors and sensors—within custom airframe volumes, building functional prototypes and conducting hands‑on lab validation such as vibration, modal, thermal‑chamber and drop tests, and supporting flight trials. Simulation tasks include structural, modal and thermal analyses together with tolerance stack‑up studies, while collaboration with industrialisation, procurement and suppliers ensures parts are optimised for injection molding, CNC machining, sheet‑metal stamping or additive manufacturing. The engineer will also define assembly sequences, design jigs and fixtures, and train production operators to achieve high build quality and throughput. The position requires a MSc or BSc in mechanical engineering or a related field, plus either four or more years of hands‑on UAV airframe design experience or six or more years in complex robotics, autonomous systems or dense electromechanical hardware. Candidates must have a proven record of taking electromechanical assemblies from CAD concept through functional prototype to production, practical knowledge of various manufacturing processes, and the ability to solve real‑world constraints such as rigidity, heat dissipation and vibration.
