The position of Field Service & Commissioning Engineer – Automation & Motion Control places you within BOBST’s Web‑Fed Solutions team, part of the Services and Performance division. BOBST designs and builds advanced packaging equipment, and its headquarters and main manufacturing hub are located at the Mex (VD) site in Switzerland. Your everyday work will involve preparing, installing and starting up sophisticated automated lines both in Switzerland and abroad. You will carry out upgrades and retrofits on existing plants, organise on‑site activities independently, and troubleshoot complex issues that span automation software, motion drives, electrical hardware and industrial IT. Programming and fine‑tuning of Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal, configuring drive units and synchronised axes, and performing both on‑site and remote diagnostics are core tasks. You will also verify system performance, support final acceptance tests, and train customer maintenance and production personnel, while feeding field observations back to project and support teams. The role requires a higher‑education engineering degree or an equivalent technical diploma in automation, electrical engineering or mechatronics, together with solid experience in Siemens TIA Portal and S7 platforms. You must be comfortable reading electrical schematics, handling drive and inverter equipment, and working in Windows‑based and virtualised environments. A good command of English (minimum B2) is essential, as is strong analytical and problem‑solving ability, self‑direction, and a Category B driver’s licence. Availability for extended stays on customer sites and frequent international travel (about half of the time) is also required. Working from the Mex headquarters offers exposure to a highly varied technical landscape that blends
