The Systems Engineering group at a leading humanoid‑robotics company is seeking a System Engineer to help bring the 4NE1 Humanoid robot from concept to a commercially viable product. The team connects product strategy with technical execution, turning market and customer needs into system‑level requirements, architectures, and validation plans that enable a robot to work safely alongside people. In this role you will convert product and business goals into clear, traceable requirements and help shape the overall system architecture. You will define the boundaries, interfaces, and responsibilities of subsystems spanning software, perception, manipulation, locomotion, controls, embedded electronics and mechanics, ensuring they work together seamlessly. Responsibilities also include leading integration and verification activities for capabilities such as movement, manipulation, human‑robot interaction, autonomy and safety, drafting verification methods and acceptance criteria, and maintaining key engineering artifacts such as requirement specifications, architecture models and interface documents. You will support the robot’s evolution from early prototypes to production units, analyse performance data, pinpoint cross‑functional issues and guide their resolution. The position requires an MSc or PhD in robotics, systems engineering, electrical engineering, computer science or a related discipline, with three or more years of relevant experience considered a plus. Candidates must have a proven record of developing complex robotic or safety‑critical autonomous systems, be proficient in requirements management and model‑based systems engineering, and possess solid knowledge of robotics middleware such as ROS/ROS2. Familiarity with functional safety, cybersecurity and relevant standards (e.g., ISO 13849, ISO 10218, ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434) is essential, as are strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities. Additional advantages include experience deploying robotic solutions in customer‑facing or production settings, a good understanding of mechatronic components and sensors, and comfort working within agile or scaled development frameworks. The role offers the chance to collaborate across diverse engineering specialties and to influence the future direction of humanoid robotics.
