UAV Avionics and Systems Engineer

As a UAV Avionics and Systems Engineer at Destinus, you will join a company that is redefining defense capabilities with ultra‑fast, hydrogen‑powered unmanned aircraft that operate near the edge of space. Destinus creates advanced UAV solutions for government and defence customers worldwide, emphasizing speed, precision and cost efficiency. Your everyday work will involve partnering with engineers from various disciplines to shape the overall UAV concept, including airframe, propulsion, avionics and payload elements. You will produce detailed 3‑D models using CAD tools, run structural and aerodynamic analyses, and craft system‑level architectures that guarantee smooth interaction among components. Responsibilities also cover generating clear system and wiring schematics, ensuring designs meet current regulations, guiding the assembly crew, writing step‑by‑step work instructions, and devising test plans to verify performance, safety and environmental resilience. After testing, you will interpret results, suggest refinements, compile flight‑approval dossiers, and keep comprehensive design and test documentation for internal and external stakeholders. The position requires at least a bachelor’s degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical engineering or a related field, with a master’s degree viewed favorably. Candidates must have demonstrable UAV systems engineering experience focused on hardware and architecture, ideally within aerospace or defence. Proficiency with Siemens NX for 3‑D design and diagram creation is advantageous. A solid foundation in aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, electrical distribution and signal routing, together with hands‑on integration, assembly and testing exposure, is essential. Familiarity with regulatory standards, strong analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and fluent English communication are also required.
