Senior DevOps Engineer - Platform

Proton, the privacy‑focused company founded by CERN scientists, offers encrypted services such as Proton Mail, VPN, Drive, Pass and Calendar to millions worldwide. As a Senior DevOps Engineer on the Platform team, you will help keep the internal tooling and infrastructure that supports hundreds of engineers running smoothly across both on‑premises and cloud environments. Your daily work will involve owning and expanding the CI/CD system that processes tens of thousands of jobs each day, planning capacity, designing runner architecture and ensuring reliability as usage patterns evolve. You will deepen the GitOps pipelines built with Argo CD, improve how cluster state is managed across environments, and advance supply‑chain security through ongoing SAST and artifact‑attestation initiatives. When complex infrastructure issues arise—spanning network, application or system layers—you will diagnose and resolve them by pulling together multiple technical threads. The position requires strong experience with Kubernetes, including tuning and troubleshooting Linux clusters under load, as well as hands‑on work with CI/CD, preferably GitLab CI. Practical knowledge of GitOps, especially Argo CD, and programming ability in Python, Go or Rust to create and maintain tooling is essential. You should also be familiar with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Terraform and possess a security‑first mindset aligned with DevSecOps practices. Clear communication and documentation skills are needed to collaborate across teams. The role is based in Paris with a salary range of €51 000 to €76 000, plus stock options that give you an ownership stake from day one. Proton provides the hardware and software required for high‑performance work, and you will join a small, distributed, collaborative team that values knowledge sharing and collective success.
