Division Counsel, EPD (m/f/d)

The Division Counsel for the Established Pharmaceuticals Division (EPD) will sit in the Basel headquarters and act as the senior legal adviser for the division's commercial, business‑development, licensing, acquisition, supply‑chain and operational matters, reporting directly to the Divisional Vice President & Associate General Counsel. In this position you will guide senior managers on strategic initiatives, evaluate and mitigate risks, and shape the legal framework for major transactions such as licences, purchases, divestitures, alliances and manufacturing agreements. You will also support the Operations and Global Supply Chain teams on issues related to production, procurement, quality, technology transfer and third‑party arrangements. Daily work includes drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, establishing standard contracting procedures, representing the legal function on governance committees, and delivering practical training and tools to promote compliant decision‑making across the division. The role requires a law degree from an accredited university and admission to the bar in at least one relevant jurisdiction. Candidates must have at least fifteen years of legal practice, with a strong background in corporate and commercial law within a highly regulated sector such as pharmaceuticals, life sciences or health‑care. Demonstrated ability to handle intricate commercial deals, licensing structures, acquisitions and alliance management is essential, as is a track record of partnering effectively with senior business leaders. Experience leading an in‑house legal team, while not mandatory, is valued, as is the capacity to travel internationally on a periodic basis to support global projects.
