Technical Studentship - Electrical / Electronics Engineering 2027-1

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, offers a Technical Studentship in Electrical and Electronics Engineering for the 2027‑1 period. The position places you in a setting where scientific discovery and practical learning intersect, allowing you to support the development and upkeep of electrical and electronic systems that underpin the laboratory’s cutting‑edge experiments. During the placement you will work closely with seasoned engineers, technicians and scientists, assisting them on projects that involve installing, testing and maintaining hardware. Daily tasks are performed under close supervision, giving you the chance to engage in hands‑on technical work while sharing ideas with an international, multidisciplinary team. Collaboration and open exchange of concepts are integral to the role. Candidates must be enrolled full‑time in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or a closely related discipline and have completed at least three semesters of study. Your university should require or encourage a practical training period, and you must be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State (excluding the listed exceptions). A solid grasp of electrical or electronic fundamentals, curiosity, precision and a proactive learning attitude are essential, as are good communication skills and the ability to function effectively in a multicultural environment. Fluency in English or French is required. The studentship is fully onsite in Geneva, with a 40‑hour work week and a contract lasting from four to twelve months, beginning 1 April 2027. You will receive a tax‑free monthly allowance of 3 486 CHF, 30 days of paid leave plus a two‑week annual shutdown, comprehensive health‑insurance coverage, and possible travel and family supplements. CERN’s inclusive culture and emphasis on diversity provide a supportive backdrop for personal and professional growth.
