Beyond Gravity, based in Zurich, Switzerland, operates at the intersection of rapid‑startup agility and decades‑long aerospace expertise. The firm designs and delivers critical hardware for satellite and launcher programmes while also contributing technologies that benefit everyday life on Earth. With more than 1,700 staff across 13 sites in six nations, the company serves a worldwide clientele and maintains a flawless mission record. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will steer the Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration & Testing (MAIT) stream for assigned projects. Core duties involve planning, coordinating and reviewing all MAIT activities, keeping project leaders informed of production status, and shaping integration concepts together with the required tooling. The role supports design teams by evaluating manufacturability, cost‑to‑produce, tolerances and surface‑treatment specifications, and by conducting regular reviews with system engineers, procurement and suppliers. Responsibilities also cover creating and managing MAIT documentation, estimating resource needs for prototypes and one‑off tasks, commissioning jigs and test equipment, guaranteeing product quality through inspections and procedures, and acting as the primary troubleshooting contact for assembly technicians. Continuous improvement of process capability, efficiency and automation, as well as assistance to procurement on complex technical purchases, are also expected. The engineer will present MAIT progress to customers, aid in proposal and claim handling, and advise on shipment, certification and machine‑guideline matters. The position demands a university or technical college qualification in mechanical, industrial engineering or a comparable discipline, coupled with at least seven to ten years of practical engineering experience in a sophisticated manufacturing environment, preferably within the space or aerospace arena. Candidates must exhibit a hands‑on approach, a focus on both customer and product needs, and possess strong leadership and communication capabilities. The role also includes mentoring newcomers, acting as deputy to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, preparing cost estimates for new initiatives, defining MAIT concepts for upcoming projects, and leading site‑level industrialisation of novel products and processes. Additional assets valued by the employer comprise familiarity with manufacturing technologies and a basic grasp of materials science, proficiency in SAP, knowledge of lean‑manufacturing or operational‑excellence principles, prior experience leading production lines, and competence with MES (SAP), CAD and other complex software tools. Experience working with composite and metallic structures is also considered beneficial. Beyond Gravity offers an international, high‑tech setting where ideas are turned into space‑bound hardware. The team is highly specialised, collaborative and receptive to improvement suggestions. Employees benefit from generous perks such as public‑transport contributions, extensive training, fully funded parental leave, flexible and mobile work options, and a minimum of five weeks of vacation with the possibility to purchase extra days. The company's core values, Passionate, Together, Curious, guide daily work and long‑term ambition. What the role asks for: - University degree in mechanical or industrial engineering - 7‑10+ years hands‑on engineering in complex manufacturing - Experience in space or aerospace sector (preferred) - Hands‑on mentality - Customer‑ and product‑oriented mindset - Strong leadership and communication abilities - Knowledge of manufacturing technologies (nice-to-have) - Basic materials science understanding (nice-to-have) - SAP proficiency (nice-to-have) - Lean manufacturing or operational excellence know‑how (nice-to-have) - Production line leadership experience (nice-to-have) - MES (SAP) and CAD software experience (nice-to-have) - Experience with composite and metallic structures (nice-to-have)
