Engineering Operations Technician, Data Center, DCEO

The position of Engineering Operations Technician in the Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) group supports AWS’s massive global information‑system infrastructure from a Swiss site. The role focuses on hands‑on troubleshooting and upkeep of electrical and mechanical equipment, ensuring the data centre runs reliably with minimal supervision. Typical duties involve supervising on‑site contractors and vendors to guarantee work follows established procedures and local regulations, while tracking performance metrics and compiling operational reports. You will generate change‑management and incident tickets as needed, help document facility processes, and assist with rack installations, power and cooling provisioning. Routine and emergency maintenance on critical assets such as switchgear, generators, UPS units, power distribution, cooling systems and building monitoring falls under your remit, as does supporting the design, commissioning and build‑out of new facilities. Daily tasks include monitoring alarms for power, cooling and fire suppression, coordinating vendor activities, supporting other sites during planned events, handling equipment hand‑overs, sharing knowledge with newcomers and taking part in response drills. The role also requires interaction with Infra Ops teams, adherence to work‑order compliance, and delivering strong customer service, with on‑call duties and possible shift rotations. Applicants must be based in Switzerland and hold a valid work permit, and be capable of independently maintaining electrical and mechanical systems. No specific certifications, languages or degrees are listed, though AWS encourages candidates from varied backgrounds to apply. The position offers the chance to work within a diverse, inclusive team that values continuous learning and collaboration in a leading cloud‑services environment.
