Senior Trading Accountant

TotalEnergies Gas & Power Ltd is looking for a Senior Trading Accountant to join their team in Geneva, Switzerland. The company specializes in natural gas, LNG, power, emissions, and derivatives, and the role involves supporting a large and complex trading activity across multiple markets, counterparties, and systems. The Senior Trading Accountant will ensure that trading activities are accurately reflected in financial statements and supported by robust accounting processes and controls. The main day-to-day responsibilities include ensuring accurate accounting representation of trading activities, reconciling trading system outputs with accounting records, and investigating discrepancies. The role also involves reviewing complex accounting and operational issues, analyzing outstanding balances, and performing root-cause analysis on recurring issues. Additionally, the Senior Trading Accountant will oversee derivatives accounting, manage intercompany P&L and balance-sheet reconciliations, and maintain the internal control environment. The role also includes acting as a key contact for internal and external auditors, supporting the Trading Accounting Manager, and leading or contributing to projects related to ERP and ETRM systems. To qualify for this role, candidates must have a Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. A minimum of 5-6 years of relevant professional experience is required, with experience in the energy, commodities, or trading sectors being highly valued. Strong accounting expertise and a good understanding of how transactions flow through a trading organization are essential. Previous exposure to commodity trading and/or derivatives accounting, as well as knowledge of IFRS and/or relevant statutory accounting requirements, are also must-haves. Candidates must have strong analytical and reconciliation skills, a high level of autonomy, and strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Full professional proficiency in English is required. Nice-to-have skills include experience in Big Four or similar audit/advisory environments, familiarity with ERP and/or ETRM systems, and advanced Excel skills. Experience with Power Query, Power BI, SQL, and/or Python is also a strong asset.
