Senior HPC Performance Engineer

NVIDIA’s NVHPC compilers & tools group is looking for a Senior HPC Performance Engineer to join a team that studies how high‑performance computing workloads behave on modern HPC servers. The group builds tools and compilers that enable scientists to run large‑scale simulations on heterogeneous clusters that combine CPUs, GPUs and many‑core processors, supporting research in areas such as weather, climate, fluid dynamics and defense. In this position you will work directly with customers to help them move their applications onto GPUs, run detailed performance investigations on benchmarks and full‑scale codes, and translate those findings into actionable advice for both compiler developers and application engineers. Your daily tasks will include measuring execution characteristics, pinpointing optimization opportunities, and guiding development teams toward improvements that boost efficiency on distributed‑memory systems. The role requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related engineering discipline, together with at least eight years of programming experience. You must be proficient in Fortran, C and C++, and familiar with parallel programming models such as OpenACC, OpenMP, MPI and CUDA. A solid background in performance analysis, tuning, and the use of parallel development tools and runtimes is essential, as are strong mathematical foundations in linear algebra and numerical methods. Effective communication, logical problem‑solving, and the ability to prioritize work in a product‑focused environment are also mandatory, and prior project‑lead or management experience is considered a plus. Candidates who possess an in‑depth knowledge of processor architectures, micro‑architectural details, and who have experience with debugging, porting and assembly‑level programming will stand out.
