Thermo-Mechanical R&D Engineer

Sécheron Hasler Group, a Swiss‑engineered company with more than a century of experience, designs high‑power electrical and electronic equipment for railways, renewable‑energy installations, DC and AC networks, and industrial systems. Within its Electrical Safety Solutions division, the firm creates components such as high‑speed circuit breakers and voltage limiters that protect critical infrastructure. The Thermo‑Mechanical R&D Engineer will join the Geneva (Satigny) office to lead mechanical and thermal design work on electro‑mechanical parts for medium‑voltage DC applications used in railway and renewable‑energy sectors. The daily work involves developing and validating mechanical and thermal aspects of these components, running multiphysics simulations focused on cooling and heat‑transfer, and progressing ideas from feasibility studies through finite‑element analysis, prototyping, testing, certification and final launch. The engineer also oversees industrialisation, product upgrades and the upkeep of existing designs, while producing technical reports and documentation. Candidates must hold a master’s or PhD in mechanical, energy or electro‑mechanical engineering, or a bachelor’s degree complemented by extensive relevant experience. At least five years of successful design work on electromagnetic devices is required, together with a proven record of creating advanced concepts and solving critical problems. Fluency in French or English, solid knowledge of 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), finite‑element analysis (thermal, multiphysics, stress) and the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams
