Vitol, a global leader in energy and commodities, designs, manages and delivers a wide range of fuels and related products to industrial and consumer customers. The company operates a proprietary Commodity Trading Risk Management (CTRM) platform that underpins its trading, risk, and invoicing processes across electricity, renewables, gas, oil, biofuels and carbon certificates. The position sits within the CTRM team in Geneva, Switzerland, and focuses on extending and maintaining this core system. Day‑to‑day duties involve creating new functionalities from user‑driven specifications, collaborating with diverse business users to clarify and rank requirements, and refining both newly built and existing system components. The role also includes providing on‑the‑job support and training for day‑level issues, as well as participating in the integration of a recently acquired company’s systems. Work is performed primarily on the established PL/SQL and Oracle Forms Builder stack, with an eye toward future migration opportunities. Candidates must hold a university degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a comparable discipline, possess solid data‑modeling abilities and be proficient in SQL. At least three years of experience in a comparable, user‑facing database engineering role is required, together with an entrepreneurial mindset, the capacity to work both independently and within a team, and a proactive, solution‑oriented attitude. Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written, are essential. Additional assets include hands‑on experience with PL/SQL or a similar procedural database language, prior exposure to the commodities or trading sector, and familiarity with Oracle Forms Builder. Knowledge of C#, C++ or Python, and French language skills are beneficial but not mandatory. The office is centrally located, a short walk from the main train station and the lake, offering a rooftop lunch area with Alpine views and regular informal events to foster cross‑team interaction.
