Principal Data Scientist

Oracle seeks a Principal Data Scientist to join its Zurich hub, working in a hybrid setting. The company combines data, infrastructure, applications and deep expertise to enable innovations across industries and support critical healthcare, while embedding artificial intelligence throughout its cloud offerings. In this senior position you will help shape intelligent data systems that influence how information and AI converge for customers worldwide. The role sits within the software engineering division, where you will actively help define and refine standard methods and procedures. Your daily work will involve creating and evolving software that supports the design, development and debugging of applications or operating systems, particularly those that power next‑generation, scalable AI‑driven platforms. Collaboration with other engineers and architects will be essential as you contribute to the evolution of the team’s technical practices. Candidates must hold an MSc in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning or a comparable field, or possess equivalent hands‑on experience, and bring more than ten years of practical coding work in data science or machine learning. Proven experience with generative AI, large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation and model assessment is required, as is familiarity with AI‑agent frameworks such as LangGraph or CrewAI and a solid grasp of concepts like agent planning, tool usage, memory handling, multi‑agent cooperation and autonomous decision making. Strong English communication skills and the ability to translate complex problems into actionable research are also mandatory. A PhD, exceptional problem‑solving abilities, polished analytical and presentation talents, and a track record of teamwork and software debugging across databases, applications and networks are considered advantageous.
