Staff DevSecOps Engineer

IonQ, the leading quantum‑computing platform listed on the NYSE, delivers integrated solutions for computing, networking, sensing and security across a range of industries. The Staff DevSecOps Engineer joins the Platform Engineering group, which is responsible for building, securing and operating the scalable infrastructure that powers IonQ’s cloud‑managed SaaS offerings and on‑premises components. In this senior position you will steer the design, implementation and operation of the organization’s DevSecOps platform, guiding software from commit to production. Your daily work will involve creating reusable CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure‑as‑Code modules and self‑service tools that boost developer productivity while enforcing strict security standards. You will manage release engineering, dependency and supply‑chain security, and ensure consistent hybrid‑cloud and on‑premises environments, while championing automation‑first practices and AI‑driven workflows throughout the software lifecycle. The role requires a seasoned DevSecOps or Platform Engineering leader with more than eight years of production engineering experience. Candidates must have recent, hands‑on experience building and running enterprise‑scale CI/CD platforms, as well as a track record of designing production‑grade Infrastructure‑as‑Code and embedding security controls into the delivery pipeline. IonQ’s headquarters are in College Park, Maryland, with additional sites across the United States, Europe and Asia, offering a globally distributed environment. The position works closely with Architecture, Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Operations and Product Development teams, providing opportunities to mentor engineers, shape engineering standards and influence the future of quantum‑enabled software delivery.
