Python Developer - Remote

The opening is for a part‑time contract Python developer who will work remotely on the backend of a client’s AI‑enhanced developer‑tool platform. The team builds sophisticated services that support cutting‑edge research and aims to shape the next wave of coding assistants. Day‑to‑day duties involve creating and refining RESTful and GraphQL interfaces that can scale, while ensuring data checks, error management and security standards are upheld. The role also requires planning and carrying out database schema changes, performance tuning and migration tasks. A key element is testing new AI‑driven models inside the Cursor environment, taking part in four‑day focused testing periods, reporting incidents, bugs and visual evidence, and providing post‑session feedback through detailed surveys. Communication with the research group occurs mainly via a dedicated Slack channel. Applicants must bring at least three years of professional experience building backend systems with Python, a solid track record of delivering REST and GraphQL APIs, and deep knowledge of validation, error handling and API protection. Hands‑on expertise with database migrations, optimization and schema design is essential. Frequent use of AI coding assistants, particularly Cursor, is expected, along with strong written and spoken communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, confidential, fully remote setting. Additional assets include visible open‑source contributions such as starred projects or pull requests, experience designing or assessing experimental tooling and workflows, and a genuine enthusiasm for advances in AI applied to software development.
