Alstom is a global leader in rail transport, delivering high‑speed trains, metros, trams, signalling and digital mobility solutions to more than 80 000 employees worldwide. The company is expanding its Integrated Services Readiness (ISR) team within the Maintenance Performance Centre to support tender and project work for the Traxx locomotive range. The role of Integrated Service Readiness & FRACAS Engineer is based in Zurich and will work at 80‑100 % capacity, helping to shape maintenance strategies, spare‑part definitions and life‑cycle cost (LCC) calculations for new and existing locomotives. On a daily basis the engineer will estimate the effort required for ISR activities, draft ISR plans for both tenders and projects and define the lists of spare parts and special tools. They will liaise with procurement, internal departments and external suppliers to obtain cost data, manage LSA tasks to meet quality‑cost‑delivery (QCD) targets, and allocate work across various stakeholders. The position also involves representing the ISR unit in project meetings, coordinating with project management, and acting as the point of contact for customers. Additional duties include organising ISR design reviews before gate reviews, participating in those gate reviews, reporting key performance indicators, and ensuring compliance with standards such as EN17023 and ECM. The engineer will prepare LCC calculations, monitor operational availability, continuously optimise maintenance plans, potentially using condition‑based monitoring (CBM), and produce the necessary documentation when maintenance intervals change. Collaboration on Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA/FMECA) and support for the FRACAS team are also part of the remit. The role requires a university or university‑of‑applied‑sciences degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, combined with deep knowledge of railway rolling stock. Candidates must have at least five years of hands‑on experience in field service, warranty handling and locomotive maintenance, plus a minimum of three years focused on reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) or LCC engineering within the electrical or mechanical domain. Familiarity with maintenance‑related standards and the ability to apply the FRACAS process during warranty periods are essential. Strong teamwork, intercultural collaboration and excellent communication skills are also mandatory, as is fluency at C1/C2 level in both German and English. Proficiency with MS Office and experience using FMEA/FMECA/FTA analysis tools are required. The position offers the chance to work in a multicultural environment at Alstom's Zurich office, collaborating closely with suppliers, procurement and customer documentation teams. The ISR department is a key part of the Maintenance Performance Centre, providing exposure to high‑profile projects and the opportunity to influence the lifecycle economics of a major locomotive platform. Alstom promotes diversity and inclusion across its 63‑country footprint, ensuring an equitable workplace for all employees. What the role asks for: - Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with railway rolling stock expertise - ≥5 years field service, warranty and locomotive maintenance experience - ≥3 years RAM/LCC engineering experience in electrical/mechanical sector - Knowledge of maintenance standards and ability to apply FRACAS process - Teamwork, intercultural cooperation and strong communication skills - C1/C2 level in German and English - Proficiency in MS Office and FMEA/FMECA/FTA tools - Additional foreign language knowledge (nice‑to‑have)
