Backend Engineer - Remote

The role is a contract backend engineering position with a client that builds digital products, and it is performed entirely remotely. As a backend engineer you will shape the server‑side architecture that powers the company’s applications, working alongside a group of highly skilled developers. Your daily work will involve creating and sustaining high‑throughput services and APIs, turning business requirements into technical designs, and fine‑tuning the system for stability, security and performance. You will be expected to produce clean, well‑documented code that is thoroughly tested, take part in peer reviews, share knowledge with teammates, and actively monitor production to diagnose and fix issues. Participation in architectural discussions and offering inventive, solution‑focused ideas will also be part of the job. The position requires at least three years of proven backend development experience using contemporary programming languages, solid practice in building RESTful interfaces and microservice‑based solutions, and strong skills with both relational and NoSQL data stores and their modeling. A deep grasp of security concepts such as authentication and authorization, as well as hands‑on work with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP or Azure) and container tools like Docker and Kubernetes, is essential. Excellent written and spoken communication and the ability to thrive in a fast‑moving, fully remote expert team are also mandatory. Additional assets include familiarity with event‑driven or serverless patterns, experience setting up CI/CD pipelines and automated testing, and a background in mentoring or providing technical leadership within backend groups.
