Garda Capital Partners, a multi‑billion‑dollar alternative‑investment firm with more than two decades of experience in relative‑value fixed‑income strategies, is looking for a Software Engineer Intern focused on AI internal tools. Reporting to the AI Lead, the intern will help create and refine the software infrastructure that lets Garda's various teams apply artificial‑intelligence capabilities safely and consistently. The day‑to‑day work revolves around constructing and enhancing internal applications, backend services, APIs and system integrations that embed AI functions into everyday workflows. The intern will also contribute to shared platform elements such as gateway services, identity links, monitoring dashboards and developer‑support utilities. Tasks include designing, coding, testing, documenting and deploying small, production‑ready features, as well as iterating on them after release. Additional duties involve evaluating AI models and tools, establishing practical benchmarks, and turning recurring needs into reusable components or automation rather than one‑off fixes. Collaboration with engineers, infrastructure, security, compliance and end‑users is essential to gather requirements, manage dependencies and incorporate feedback into robust solutions. Candidates should be actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Quantitative Finance and have proven software‑development experience gained through coursework, internships or personal projects. They must be comfortable with at least one programming language and possess solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, testing and version control. An enthusiasm for building backend services, APIs and internal tooling, together with clear written and verbal communication skills, is required. The role calls for good judgment when balancing speed, quality and reliability, and an interest in practical AI systems and AI‑enabled development. The position sits within a culture built on trust, integrity and collaborative success, with primary offices in Wayzata, New York City, West Palm Beach, Geneva, Zug, Copenhagen, Singapore and Scottsdale. While the internship lasts six months, the team offers mentorship, exposure to a global investment environment and the chance to work on reusable, production‑grade software that supports a leading financial firm. What the role asks for: - Pursuing a Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Quant Finance - Demonstrated software‑development experience via coursework, internships or projects - Proficiency in at least one programming language - Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, testing and version control - Interest in building backend services, APIs and internal tooling - Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non‑technical partners - Experience with AI platforms, languages or cloud tech (nice‑to‑have) - Interest in financial markets or investment management (nice‑to‑have)
